State of Connecticut requires Locksmiths to be licensed is yours?
Use this basic checklist to assess your home security needs. For a more comprehensive assessment contact Bud at Huntington Locksmithing.
Don't put your name on the outside of your residence or mailbox.
Have adequate outside lighting, preferably motion activated.
Control vegetation to eliminate hiding places or plant thorny bush without spaces between them.
Entrances and exits should have solid door with deadbolt locks.
Entrances and exits should have one way peepholes that can be viewed at a distance from the doors.
Bars and locks on skylights where possible.
Restrict the possession of house keys. In the event that your keys have been lost or stolen, contact us ASAP.
Lock all entrances at night, including the garage. Keep the house locked, even if you are at home.
Keep car locked when in garage in case of forced entry.
Arrange for an unlisted home telephone number (limits accessibility to home address).
Don't leave notes on doors.
Develop friendly relationships with neighbors where possible.
Notify the police or a trusted neighbor if you plan on being gone for an extended period of time.
Don't hide keys outside house. Use exterior lockboxes with changeable combinations .
Put lights on a timer to turn them on and off at varying times and locations.
When not at home turn on a radio
Shred all old documentation before discarding so it cannot be used by others.
Sliding doors need extra security such as a Charlie - BarŪ
Alarms and locks work together but your first line of defense is as always, "your locks"
The alarm will call police but if they are already in its probably too late the damage is done.
